The Iowa Tourism Office recognized 25 outstanding businesses and events in the tourism industry during the 2023 Iowa Tourism Conference held in Altoona. The awards, divided into metro and rural distinctions, were made in 13 categories, and conference attendees voted for the People’s Choice Award. Catch Des Moines received the awards for Outstanding Niche Market Initiative and Outstanding Promotional Material. The Iowa State Fair Sensory-Friendly Morning received the Outstanding Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Initiative. Other winners included Wilson’s Orchard and Surf Ballroom for Outstanding Attraction; Council Bluffs and Winterset for Outstanding Community; and King’s Pointe Waterpark Resort and Field of Dreams Movie Site for Outstanding Lodging Property, among others.
