Iowa unemployment filings increase slightly
The number of Iowans who filed unemployment claims last week increased slightly to 52,646, Iowa Workforce Development data shows. The number of claims filed is 2% more than the 51,554 claims filed the previous week. Additionally, the state agency reported that during the week that ended on Saturday that $15.1 million in jobless benefits was paid out of the state’s unemployment compensation trust fund. Since mid-March, Iowa has paid out more than $1.14 billion in unemployment claims from the fund.
