Four women have been selected for induction into the Iowa Women’s Hall of Fame.

The Iowa Commission on the Status of Women last week announced this year’s inductees, who will join fellow honorees going back to 1975.

The 2015 Iowa Women’s Hall of Fame inductees are:

  • Linda Neuman, lawyer and former Iowa Supreme Court justice, Le Claire.

  • Joyce Ann Boone Chapman, retired executive vice president at West Bank, Des Moines.

  • Lt. Gen. Michelle D. Johnson, superintendent at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado, originally from Spencer.

  • Marsha Ternus, director of the Harkin Institute for Public Policy and Citizen Engagement at Drake University and former Iowa Supreme Court justice, Grimes.

The Iowa Commission on the Status of Women annually honors exceptional women with the aim of highlighting women’s heritage and recognizing the important contributions women have made in Iowa. Inductees are recognized as role models for women everywhere and champions of the rights of women and girls.

Among those honored as members of the Iowa Women’s Hall of Fame are past legislators, political and social activists, scientists, educators, writers, and spiritual and community leaders. They represent the women who have helped shape Iowa, the United States and the world.

Their induction into the Iowa Women’s Hall of Fame aims to enhance the visibility of their contributions to their work, communities and the status of women.
