Iowa Workforce Development to begin offering in-person meetings with jobless Iowans

Iowa Workforce Development announced that beginning March 8 IowaWorks centers and satellite offices will begin providing limited in-person assistance to unemployed Iowans. Services will include assistance with job searches, applications, resume preparation and other services to help Iowans with their employment needs. Individuals should telephone their local offices to schedule an appointment. The state agency also reported that the number of Iowans filing unemployment claims increased to 54,964 last week, a nearly 2% increase from the previous week. The agency also reported that 5,547 Iowa filed initial claims last week, a nearly 14% drop from the 6,320 who filed first-time claims the previous week.
