Are you getting things done? That’s the question IowaBiz blogger Timothy Johnson asks in his third book, “SWAT: Seize the Accomplishment.” Using a narrative approach, Johnson covers the application of systems thinking in his latest “business fable,” set to be published on Jan. 11 by Lexicon Corp.

Johnson, while researching the book, spent three years observing, photographing and interacting with members of Greater Des Moines’ Suburban Emergency Response Team, including Special Weapons and Tactics officers from the Urbandale, West Des Moines, Clive, Johnston, Altoona and Windsor Heights police departments.

A consultant and adjunct professor with a bent for project management, he contends that systems thinking is universal and applicable to both business and personal life.
