Enrollment for health plans through the Affordable Care Act dipped slightly in Iowa this year, reports the Cedar Rapids Gazette. Sign-ups fell to 8.5 million this year, a drop from approximately 8.8 million people who signed up for coverage at the same time last year. Iowa Insurance Commissioner Doug Ommen pointed to challenges within the federal individual market but added that the effect from Iowa’s so-called skinny health coverage plans in the state has been minimal.
