Iowa’s unemployment rate falls slightly
Iowa’s unemployment rate fell to a seasonally adjusted 3.5 percent in October, down slightly from 3.6 percent the month before. A year ago, the rate stood at 4.3 percent. The national unemployment rate was 5 percent in October. The state had 60,300 unemployed residents in October, down from 61,400 in September. The current estimate is 13,500 lower than the year-ago level of 73,800. The Iowa workforce stood at 1.6 million, up 5,000 from a year ago.
