A team of researchers at Iowa State University will use the mathematical concepts behind game theory to develop a better way to assess the threats of cyberattacks on the power grid. The ISU researchers, led by computer engineering professor Manimaran Govindarasu and Sourabh Bhattacharya, an assistant professor of mechanical engineering, have received a three-year, $777,271 grant from the National Science Foundation to support the project. Currently, threat levels are broadly assessed as high, medium or low. A goal of the project is to develop a software tool that can provide the power industry for systematic security planning and investment. To read more about the project, click here.
