ISU: Russians run campaign against GMO crops

Russia, in the spotlight for allegedly interfering with the most recent U.S. presidential election, has also been trying to turn public opinion against a major Iowa business — genetically modified crops, the Des Moines Register reported. Iowa State University found that Russia is financing online articles that question the safety of genetically modified organisms, or GMOs, to try to hurt American agriculture while boosting its own, said Shawn Dorius, an ISU assistant sociology professor.
