Iowa Workforce Development announced it has hired two new division administrators and a new deputy director of employment and training to respond to business needs and help connect with businesses to address their workforce issues. Sherri Behrendt (second from right) is the new deputy director of employment and training, and will oversee the IowaWORKS centers, Workforce Services, a new Business Engagement Division, and IWD’s new Workforce Training and Education Division. She is the former president and CEO of Vantec Inc., a Webster City-based manufacturer of custom-molded products. The new Workforce Training and Education Division will be led by Jared Baldwin (far right), who was most recently program chair at Faith Baptist Bible College and Theological Seminary in Ankeny. He led strategic planning and designed the college’s organizational leadership degree program. Tim Goodwin (far left) will lead the Business Engagement Division beginning Sept. 1 after 15 years in education as a teacher, coach and administrator and serving as chief operating officer of two companies in Illinois and Iowa. He currently serves as Iowa’s state senator from District 44, a southeast Iowa seat that is being eliminated at the end of the year through redistricting.
