IWD awards $3.4M in new funding for Registered Apprenticeship programs

126 wordsAll Latest News, Economic Development, Government Policy and Law, Retail and BusinessIowa Workforce Development announced $3.47 million in new funding designated to create or expand Registered Apprenticeship programs across Iowa. The funding will be spread across two types of programs, the Iowa Apprenticeship Act (15B) and the Iowa Registered Apprenticeship Development Fund (15C). Iowa Code Chapter 15B supports annual funding for training or ongoing costs within any active Iowa Registered Apprenticeship program. Chapter 15C assists programs that have been created or expanded to include a new program in a high-demand occupation. There are 63 programs under 15B and 25 under 15C receiving awards from the state. The 15B awardees can be viewed here, and the 15C awardees are available here. There are currently more than 890 Registered Apprenticeship programs across the state, according to a news release.
