Emily Chafa

Iowa Workforce Development announced today that Emily Chafa has been promoted to Unemployment Insurance Appeals Division manager with the Unemployment Insurance Appeals Bureau.

In that position, Chafa will oversee 15 administrative law judges who hear and decide administrative appeals regarding unemployment insurance benefits, along with their support staff.

Chafa is a graduate of the Loyola School of Law and also graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree from Drake University. She has been a state employee since 2009 when she joined IWD as an attorney.

Courtney Maxwell Greene

Iowa Workforce Development also announced it has hired Courtney Maxwell Greene as communications director. She previously was vice president for enrollment and communications at AIB College of Business, where she oversaw admissions, marketing and public relations.

She has worked as a television reporter, news anchor and producer in Des Moines and Kansas City, as well press secretary to the governor and public information bureau chief for the Iowa Department of Public Safety.
