Iowa Workforce Development’s Unemployment Insurance Division announced that residents can now file weekly unemployment insurance claims using a mobile device. Recent system upgrades now allow Iowans to use a smartphone or tablet, in addition to a computer, to file weekly continuing unemployment insurance claims and review their benefit status online. IWD announced earlier this year that it will be phasing out its telephone filing option effective Oct. 1. People who do not have access to any electronic devices can still receive assistance over the phone from an IWD representative, the agency said.
