Joe Mitchell appointed HUD regional administrator

Iowa native Joe Mitchell has been appointed regional administrator for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Great Plain Region, or Region VII. Mitchell, 28, served two terms in the Iowa House of Representatives beginning in 2019. In 2020, Mitchell founded Run GenZ, a nonprofit that assists and encourages conservative leadership across the country. He also is a senior account manager for MD Orthopedics, a family-owned company with over $5 million in annual sales, according to his LinkedIn profile. Mitchell, who has a bachelor’s degree from Drake University, will lead field operations across Region VII, which includes Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska. A HUD mission is increasing Americans’ access to affordable housing and expanding the country’s housing supply.
