Johnson County gives final approval to minimum wage increase

84 wordsAll Latest News, Government Policy and LawThe Johnson County Board of Supervisors at its Thursday meeting voted unanimously for the third and final time in favor of an ordinance that will raise the county’s minimum wage, the Iowa City Press-Citizen reported. Per the ordinance, the minimum wage in Johnson County will increase from $7.25 an hour to $10.10 an hour by 2017 in three 95-cent increments, and future raises will be tied to annual increases in the Consumer Price Index. The first increase, to $8.20, will take effect Nov. 1.
