Johnson named new president/CEO of Mid-Iowa Health Foundation

Dr. Nalo Johnson, pictured, has been named as the new president and CEO of Mid-Iowa Health Foundation, the organization announced today. Johnson will succeed Suzanne Mineck, who announced her resignation in June. Johnson most recently served as division director of health promotion and chronic disease prevention at the Iowa Department of Public Health. In a news release, Mid-Iowa Health Foundation leaders said Johnson’s experience in leading collaborative efforts to address health equity and the social determinants of health will help advance the organization’s mission. “Dr. Johnson’s tremendous leadership and skills with engaging diverse stakeholders, analyzing data, and thinking big picture about systems change will advance the bold work the Foundation has led under Suzanne’s tenure,” said Mid-Iowa Health Board Chair Chris Cook. Joseph Jones, the board member who led the search for a new president and CEO, said Johnson’s experience brings a deep commitment to elevating community voices to guide changes that improve health. “Nalo has an incredible track record of driving innovative strategies that address root causes for disparities and lead toward equity, and her public health lens is even more critical as we respond to challenges that have become heightened during the pandemic,” he said. Johnson is scheduled to start in her new role on Nov. 16.
