Johnson to lead rights commission

Kim Reynolds nominated Administrative Law Judge Elizabeth Johnson of Iowa Workforce Development as executive director of the Iowa Civil Rights Commission. Johnson, who previously was a staff member at the Iowa Civil Rights Commission, begins her new job Aug. 26. She also worked as a lawyer in private practice and at the Iowa Department of Revenue. Johnston has a bachelor’s degree in art history from Clarke College (now Clarke University) in Dubuque, and a law degree from the University of Iowa. The Iowa Civil Rights Commission enforces state and federal anti-discrimination laws. Johnson’s appointment is subject to Iowa Senate confirmation.
