Johnston attorney appointed to Iowa property tax board

Terry Branstad has appointed Camille Valley to the Iowa Property Assessment Appeal Board for a term that begins Aug. 26 and ends April 30, 2019, when she will be eligible for a full, six-year appointment. Valley, of Johnston, will replace Clive resident Jacqueline Rypma, who resigned on June 30. Valley is a licensed attorney with experience dealing with property assessments and has conducted more than 3,000 contested case hearings. The Iowa Property Assessment Appeal Board is a three-member body that reviews any final decision, finding, ruling, determination, or order of a local board of review relating to protests of a property assessment, valuation or equalization order. Valley’s appointment is a full-time position and she will be paid a salary of $112,070. Her appointment must be confirmed by the Iowa Senate.
