For the 11th year, Johnston Mayor Paula Dierenfeld is holding her Run for Food challenge. She’s pledging to run one mile for every bag of food or $10 donated to the Johnston Partnership. Her goal for this year is to run 2,500 miles. After 2023’s challenge, she ran 2,328 miles and finished on Nov. 15, 2024. Over $81,130 has been raised since this annual initiative began, a news release said. Monetary and food donations for Dierenfeld’s initiative can be made through Dec. 30, either online or by dropoff at the Johnston Parntership’s office at 5870 Merle Hay Road.
