Johnston provides update on new high school project
Construction on the new Johnston High School continues to be on schedule and on budget, school district officials said today. The $81 million project, expected to be completed in April 2017, will provide 345,000 square feet of space and accommodate 1,800 students. Construction crews will continue working to roof and enclose the classroom sections in coming weeks, the district said in a release. The next major step is erecting the gymnasium walls, located on the south side of the property. At its June 22 meeting, the Johnston school board voted to approve an approximately $2 million change order to create a track and turf area for a future stadium.
