Kass named Waukee’s community development director

He has worked for Waukee since December 2013 in various roles including planner II, senior planner and planning coordinator. Before joining Waukee’s city staff, Kass was a planner for Champaign County in Illinois. Kass will be responsible for leading and directing the operations of Waukee’s community development department, which includes planning, building and code enforcement, and economic development divisions. He will continue to play an active role in the development review process and will head up long-range planning initiatives. Kass has a bachelor’s degree in political science and master’s degree in urban and regional planning from the University of Iowa. Kass, who will be paid $110,107 annually, replaces Brad Deets who recently was named assistant city administrator in Waukee.
