Kemin Industries Inc. will host a ceremonial groundbreaking on Friday for its new headquarters building at its southeast Des Moines campus. Gov. Terry Branstad and Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds will attend the ceremony, in which about 300 Kemin employees will stand within an outline of the planned office building. The more than 90,000-square-foot office building will house nearly 350 employees along with a fitness center and dining facility. The $30 million project, to be completed in 2017, is part of Kemin’s $125.5 million commitment announced as part of its five-year plan to support the company’s growth. The two-story corporate headquarters will connect with the Molecular Advancement Center and include a bridge concept on the second floor spanning a new courtyard and retention pond.
