Kum & Go LC of West Des Moines was the 2011 winner of the Biodiesel Marketing Award given by Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey.

The secretary’s awards were created by the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship to recognize fuel marketers that have shown the most effort to sell renewable fuels.

Kum & Go, whose president and CEO Kyle Krause accepted the award, offered a 2 percent biodiesel blend at nearly 60 percent of its stores, and more than 87 percent of diesel fuel sold last year was blended with biodiesel.

Roger Baschke of Green Plains Energy Co. was named the Ethanol Marketing Award winner.
