Kum & Go wins community service award
Kum & Go LC, which operates more than 400 convenience stores in 11 Midwestern states, won the Grand Spirit Award for Community Outreach for the convenience industry. Among other charities, Kum & Go immediately responded after a May 22 tornado struck Joplin, Mo. The convenience store chain dispatched a crisis team and launched a company wide “Help Joplin” campaign, which raised $93,910. The retailer’s foundation supplied an additional check bringing the donation up to $115,000, which was sent to the American Red Cross.
