A little more than three weeks to go before the 12th edition of Peoples Co.’s Land Investment Expo, and the agenda is growing. With hemp resurrected as a legal crop, thanks to the farm bill that was recently passed by Congress and signed by President Donald Trump, its cultivation has been added to the agenda, with a work session led by Michael Bowman, founding board chairman of the National Hemp Association. Sen. Joni Ernst will talk about what to expect during the upcoming session of Congress. More politics are on tap with a panel of political experts daring to stick their fingers and observations into the surly winds blowing through national politics. Martha Stewart has been on the agenda as keynote speaker since September, and she said at the time that she is looking forward to “sharing insight on how I believe today’s agricultural and food economy can and should adapt to the evolving nature of both the marketplace and consumer behavior.” The event runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 25 at the Iowa Events Center. More than 900 people are expected. A limited number of tickets remain available here.
