It can be daunting to keep track of what the latest news is out of the ongoing U.S.-China trade dispute. We’ve compiled a list of stories that look at the most recent moves in this matter as well as offer some other angles. Among them:

— If you need a refresher on what has happened recently, National Public Radio recaps this week’s events, starting with this report: “Hours after President Trump announced tariffs on $200 billion in Chinese goods, China responded with its own levies on $60 billion worth of U.S. products.”

— Of course, there’s fallout that is being reported. The fight is hurting some deals that were already in place. CNN Tech reports: “Chinese tech billionaire Jack Ma’s promise to create 1 million new U.S. jobs is the latest casualty of the trade war. The Alibaba chief grabbed attention at the start of last year when he made the highly ambitious pledge following a meeting with Donald Trump, who was president-elect at the time. But in an interview published late Wednesday by China’s official news agency, Xinhua, Ma said the waves of new tariffs imposed by Washington and Beijing in recent months have undermined the plan.”

— A big question being asked is how long the trade fight with China can continue — perhaps even beyond the Trump administration’s time in office. The New York Times took a look at the matter. Its report included this: “Kevin Rudd, a former prime minister of Australia and an expert on China, said in an interview that 2018 signaled ‘the beginnings of a war of a different type: a trade war, an investment war and a technology war between the two great powers of the 21st century, with an uncertain landing point.’ ”

— The trade and tariff issue came up on Principal’s blog this week with this posting: “Short and sharp: Trump ups the pressure on global markets.”
