LBS acquires Illinois-based Gane Brothers & Lane

152 wordsAll Latest News, Manufacturing, Statewide NewsLBS, a manufacturer and distributor of materials for the production of books and luxury packaging based in Des Moines, has completed its previously announced acquisition of the assets of Gane Brothers & Lane Inc. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Gane’s Illinois operation has been merged with LBS’ operation in Des Moines. LBS plans to hire additional staff to ensure consistent outstanding service, and said it anticipates increased stability in the book and packaging markets. “This strategic acquisition is the result of a compelling fit of Gane’s product offering and industry reputation with our strategic plan of becoming the market leader in supplying high-quality materials and solutions for the bookbinding and luxury packaging markets,” said Rob Mauritz, president and CEO of LBS. LBS, which is celebrating 100 years in business this year, was family-owned from 1921 to 2014, becoming an employee-owned company in 2014. The company has about 75 employee-owners.
