LBS acquires New Jersey-based FIM Headbands
LBS, a Des Moines-based manufacturer and distributor of materials for the production of books and luxury packaging, announced it has acquired the assets of FIM Headbands, which is based in South Hackensack, N.J. Financial details of the transaction, which was completed Dec. 17, were not disclosed. FIM Headbands specializes in making headbands, a woven beaded band used in bookbinding at the head and foot of a book’s spine to provide a finished and decorative appearance. “As with the acquisition of Gane Brothers earlier this year, the acquisition of FIM Headbands is a great fit for LBS and our customers as part of our strategic plan to be the logical source for all bookbinding materials,” said Rob Mauritz, president and CEO of LBS. LBS will merge operations of the company at its Des Moines location. The 100-year-old company, which has 80 employee-owners, does not expect to add any staff to accommodate the additional business, using existing staff and processes already in place.
