Richard Leopold has been named director of the Polk County Conservation Board, after serving as deputy director and interim director since the spring of 2013. Leopold previously was director of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, executive director of the Iowa Environmental Council and assistant regional director  for the Midwest region of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. He also had worked for the U.S. Forest Service, the National Park Service, and the Minnesota and Iowa natural resources departments.
