Little change in number of weekly unemployment claims filed in Iowa
The number of Iowans who filed unemployment claims in the week that ended on Saturday changed little from the previous week, according to Iowa Workforce Development. The state agency reported that 53,592 Iowans filed unemployment claims last week, including 4,452 who filed first-time claims. In the week that ended on Feb. 20, 53,950 Iowans filed unemployment claims. The state agency also reported that $17.2 million in jobless benefits was paid out of Iowa’s unemployment compensation trust fund. Since mid-March 2020, $1.19 billion has been paid from the fund.
