Local authors to be honored
The Des Moines Public Library Foundation will honor three authors at its annual Iowa Author Awards Dinner on Friday. This year’s honorees are Elvin McDonald, who has more than 50 books in print, along with new authors J. Barry Griswell and Bob Jennings, who co-wrote “The Adversity Paradox.” Also to be honored is Judy McCoy Davis, who will receive the foundation’s Friend of Literacy award. The celebration will be held at the Downtown Des Moines Marriott beginning at 5:45 pm with a cocktail reception followed by dinner and the program at 7 p. m. Tickets are $150 per person.
