Logistics company plans new headquarters in Urbandale

272 wordsAll Latest News, Economic Development, Real Estate and DevelopmentMore than two years ago, Worldwide Integrated Supply Chain Solutions Inc. began the development process for a new headquarters proposed on about 22 acres at 12408 Meredith Drive in Urbandale.
The project stalled during the pandemic but now appears back on track and moving forward.
Last week, the Iowa Economic Development Authority board awarded the $17.2 million proposed project more than $808,000 in investment tax credits and sales, service and use tax refunds. The company is proposing to construct a two-story, 76,000-square-foot building designed to be added on to in the future.
The company, known as WorldWide Logistics, currently is located at 3611 109th St. In Urbandale. The company, which began in 1999, arranges transportation of freight and logistics services across the country.
In addition to the financial package from the state, the city of Urbandale is expected to provide financial assistance of up to $2.04 million in the form a 10-year, 90% tax increment finance rebate, according to a city document.
The company is expected to create 111 new jobs, 11 of which will pay $27.57 per hour.
WorldWide Logistics has resubmitted the site plan for the proposed project and preliminary plat to address conditions of approval included in a 2019 staff report, according to a city official. A building permit for the proposed project, which would be located on the south side of Meredith Drive, has not yet been issued.
The property where the proposed project is planned includes a single-family house; the remainder of the property is used for agricultural purposes. The property was rezoned in 2003, city documents show.
Construction is expected to be completed by fall 2022.
