Lutheran Services receives grant money
The Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines awarded a $25,000 grant to Lutheran Services in Iowa (LSI) to provide funding for that nonprofit organization’s refugee services program. LSI’s new program, which launched this month, will provide extended services for refugees in Polk County in four core areas: connecting elderly refugees to community resources, providing employment readiness services for individuals who face high barriers to employment, helping refugee community leaders and service providers improve access to resources, and offering English as a second language (ESL) classes.
