Mahaska Communication Group, based in Oskaloosa, announced Friday that broadband internet service with speeds up to 2 gigabits per second will soon be available to Newton residents and businesses. MCG’s residential and business customers will also be eligible for television and telephone services. Construction on the underground network will start in phases in early 2022 with an estimated completion date of late 2024 or early 2025; services will be connected as they become available or each phase is completed.
