Stephanie Land, the author of “Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay and a Mother’s Will to Survive,” will be a headlining author at the 2022 DSM Book Festival. The festival is scheduled for March 26 in downtown Des Moines. Land’s book details her experience as a single mom navigating poverty and working various maid service jobs to support her family. The book was also recently adapted into a limited series on Netflix. Land’s presentation is sponsored by United Way’s Women United program.
