The Community Foundation of Marshall County announced a $200,000 Rebuild Marshalltown Fund matching grant award to Region Six Resource Partners for Downtown Revitalization, to address remaining damage from the 2018 tornado. Region Six will be applying for a Downtown Revitalization Grant from the Iowa Economic Development Authority for exterior facade restoration of eight to 12 highly visible buildings within the Marshalltown central business district. The region will use this $200,000 grant as part of the required local match. Long-term recovery and rebuilding efforts may take up to 10 years following the storm, the Community Foundation said in a statement. Contributions to the Rebuild Marshalltown Fund can be made online.
