Marshalltown chosen to receive EPA Brownfields Grant
Marshalltown will be awarded $300,000 through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Brownfields Grant Program to conduct environmental site assessment and establish a plan to clean up and reuse properties. The announcement came during a news conference today at Marshalltown’s Veterans Memorial Coliseum. According to a news release, the city plans to use the funds to conduct at least 20 environmental site assessments and develop a cleanup and redevelopment plan. The city will also develop an inventory of Brownfield sites, host public meetings and conduct other activities to engage the community. Sioux City was also selected to receive a $300,000 grant through the program. The grants will be awarded after recipients satisfy all legal and administrative requirements.
