Marshalltown Mall up for auction

The Marshalltown Mall is up for auction and the future for its tenants is uncertain, the Marshalltown Times-Republican reports. Commercial real estate company Ten-X Commercial in California listed the property with a starting bid of $900,000. The auction was confirmed by Boh Kurylo, agent of the Lerner Co. in Nebraska, the business that manages the mall. However, the owner of the mall is an anonymous New York City investment company. Kurylo told the Times-Republican he did not know what the fate would be for the current occupants – which include Hobby Lobby, J.C. Penney, Bath & Body Works, Planet Fitness, Shoe Sensation, a Fridley movie theater and the Iowa Department of Transportation among others– or whether Lerner Co. would continue management. Those decisions would be up to the new owner, he said.
