Amy Dagestad, director of Maternal/Child Services at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, has been named a 2019 Emerging Leader by the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses. The AWHONN program provides outstanding nurses a yearlong leadership training program; Dagestad is among a cohort of 10 nurses selected from across the country. Activities include guidance from mentors, networking events, meetings with congressional staff, continuing education opportunities and other leadership training. Dagestad, who previously worked in maternity services at UnityPoint Health-Des Moines, joined Mary Greeley in 2015. She oversees Mary Greeley’s Birthways unit, which delivers more than 1,100 babies a year.
