The vice president and quality improvement officer at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames has been named a recipient of the 2021 Baldrige Foundation Award for Leadership Excellence. Karen Kiel Rosser will be recognized during a virtual awards program held along with the Baldrige Program’s Quest for Excellence conference in April. According to a news release, the award recognizes leaders who provide outstanding support to the foundation’s mission, and who have made significant achievements and contributed outstanding service on a sustained basis. According to the release, Kiel Rosser was instrumental in the hospital being recognized with the 2019 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. Mary Greeley is the only hospital in Iowa to receive the award. Kiel Rosser also has played a critical role in the hospital consistently receiving top honors from the Iowa Recognition for Performance Excellence program. “We have made incredible progress in the past 10 years, and we could not have done it without Karen,” hospital CEO Brian Dieter said in his nomination of Kiel Rosser for the award. “Our journey continues, shaped by Karen’s example and leadership.”
