Iowa beekeepers now have a local pathway for attaining “Master Beekeeping” certification through a program called Great Plains Master Beekeeping. Housed at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, Sheldon Brummel, Master Beekeeping Project coordinator, will introduce the program this weekend to beekeepers at a winter seminar in Grimes. Johnston Community Education will produce the first Iowa course for the GPMB program, Beekeeping 101, which begins the first week of February. Before this program was developed, Iowans had to pursue certification outside the Midwest region. For more information, email Sheldon Brummel at email@example.com.
