Outgoing Drake University President David Maxwell has been named to the Grinnell College board of trustees. Grinnell also announced that Patricia Jipp Finkelman, a 1980 graduate of Grinnell and a former health care policy and reimbursement consultant, has been elected chair of the board of trustees. Maxwell, one of three new trustees, is a 1966 Grinnell graduate who retires June 30 after 16 years as president of Drake University, where he also held the title of professor of literature. After his retirement, Maxwell will be an Association of Governing Boards senior fellow, serving as a thought leader and adviser to AGB and its member institutions. Also named new trustees are Michael Kahn, a 1976 Grinnell graduate who is senior managing director at TIAA-CREF, a national financial services organization; and Ed Senn, a 1970 Grinnell graduate who will serve as an ex-officio trustee in his role as president of the college’s Alumni Council for 2015-16. Senn is vice president of state government relations at Verizon Communications.The three new trustees will begin serving on the board in the fall.
