McClure Engineering Co. says in a release that it is the first company in Iowa and one of the few in the Midwest that can capture 1 million points of data per second after purchasing a high-definition 3-D scanner. “It’s like the difference between driving a horse and buggy and a Tesla — both get you where you need to go, but I’ll take the Tesla,” Terry Lutz, president of Clive-based McClure Engineering, said in the release. City and state governments (public works, transportation departments), public schools, utilities, architects, manufacturing companies and companies that regularly build new construction such as retailers, or any company with infrastructure to maintain, could take advantage of the 3-D scanner.
