Medicap Pharmacy announced it has joined a partnership between the Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery and Orpyx Medical Technologies. The DMU Foot and Ankle Clinic will evaluate diabetes patients for Orpyx sensory insoles and refer them to a Medicap Pharmacy location for fittings. Three Medicap locations in Des Moines, Boone and Winterset will participate in the pilot program, according to a release. “We are thrilled to offer this service to members of our community. This product isn’t available currently at any other pharmacies in the area, and we are excited to introduce it to our patients. The technology can help reduce pressure points and foot complications that can often lead to amputation in diabetics, so this will have a great impact on quality of life,” said Lori Kane, certified pharmacy technician at the Medicap Pharmacy on East 14th Street in Des Moines.
