Mercy Iowa City seeks to join UnityPoint Health

93 wordsAll Latest News, Health and Wellness, Statewide NewsCedar Rapids Gazette: Mercy Iowa City announced Monday it will explore becoming part of the UnityPoint Health network, a move that allows the small Catholic hospital to operate more efficiently and gain access to larger insurance plans, officials said. UnityPoint and Mercy Iowa City signed a letter of intent to provide joint health care services in Iowa City. The 234-bed hospital will retain its Catholic affiliation under the proposed agreement. Mercy Iowa City officials had considered joining Mercy Health Network, a statewide network of Mercy affiliates that is based in West Des Moines.
