U.S. News & World Report has recognized the quality of health care services provided by Mercy Medical Center-Des Moines and Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. The two hospitals tied for No. 4 best-performing hospitals in the state, with each noted for having high performance in six clinical areas. The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics was named No. 1 in the state and is nationally ranked in seven adult specialties and eight pediatric specialties, as well as high performing in six clinical areas. More than 500 hospitals were ranked in the 27th annual release of the U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals Rankings, which compared health data from nearly 5,000 hospitals and medical centers.
