MercyOne-Central Iowa names new chief medical officer

186 wordsAll Latest News, Health and Wellness, Key Leadership ChangesMercyOne announced that Dr. Lisa Laurent has been named chief medical officer for MercyOne-Central Iowa. She began in the position on Oct. 7. Laurent, a board-certified radiologist, most recently was chief medical officer at CHI St. Alexius Health and Physician Enterprise in Bismarck, N.D. Before that, she was in independent clinical practice for more than 20 years. She held multiple leadership positions including president of Advanced Radiology Consultants, a large private practice radiology corporation, as well as medical staff president of Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, a level I trauma Center with more than 700 beds, and Advocate Children’s Hospital, all located in Park Ridge, Ill. Laurent is a graduate of Smith College and received her medical degree from Drexel University School of Medicine. She also has a master’s in science in health care quality and safety management and an MBA. She is a fellow of the American Association for Physician Leadership, and most recently was a member of the FAAPL board of directors and executive committee. Laurent fills the position vacated by Dr. Hijinio Carreon, who became the systemwide chief medical executive for MercyOne in May.
