Last month, 741 homes sold, down from 1,016 in December. In January 2017, 729 homes were sold. The median sales price last month was $188,500, down from $190,000 in December and up from $179,400 a year ago. “With the weather being so cold and an increase in snow fall, I would have expected more of a decline in numbers,” Brennan Buckley, president of the Des Moines Area Association of Realtors, said in a release. Pending sales rose to 987 from 820 in December. At this time last year, 1,006 homes were under contract. Houses that sold last month had been on the market an average of 73 days, compared with 77 days in December and 99 days a year ago.
