Metro Women Connect progresses; members sought
Iowa Women Lead Change plans to move forward with the creation of Metro Women Connect organization and is seeking interested members, the Cedar Rapids-based group said last week.
Metro Women Connect is part of IWLC’s plan to expand its educational events approach and increase the number of female leaders in Iowa businesses, nonprofits and governmental entities. IWLC held an informational meeting in Des Moines on June 28 to gauge interest in the group among Central Iowa women.
On July 19, a second meeting formed the group and finalized membership, organization structure, and other logistics. Companies represented at the meeting included Principal Financial Group Inc., Fareway, Flynn Wright, Holmes Murphy, Wells Fargo, United Way of Central Iowa, DuPont Pioneer, Ernst & Young, BrownWinick Law Firm, Nationwide Insurance Co., Pella Corp., Iowa State University and Davis Brown Law Firm.
Details about the group are:
- Metro Women Connect will be administered by IWLC and reside under the IWLC umbrella. Its structure is modeled upon Chamber of Commerce member organizations.
- The membership fee is $3,000 per company, per year. The fee is waived for nonprofit organizations.
- The first proposed developmental/networking event will be held at Hy-Vee Hall on Nov. 29 or 30.
To date, the group has 19 members representing different Des Moines-area companies. Diane Ramsey, CEO of IWLC, said they plan to cap membership at 30.
Organizations interested in joining Metro Women Connect should fill out this application and return to cheri.sullivan@iwlcleads.org by Aug. 18.
