In the middle of escalating trade tensions, Mexico is reportedly studying tariff options on $4 billion in annual imports of U.S. corn and soybeans without harming domestic livestock industries, Reuters reports. Mexico has already imposed tariffs on American steel, apples and pork in response to President Donald Trump’s metal tariffs, and is reportedly seeking a way to strike grains in the U.S. corn belt, including Iowa, Missouri, Kansas and Nebraska — all states that voted for Trump in 2016.
